EMOTION-FOCUSED THERAPY
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals better understand, process, and transform their emotional experiences. EFT takes the perspective that our emotions are attempting to tell us something important, and it is our job to take to the time to process what we are feeling and how come, so that we can make the best responses possible to appease our adverse emotions and challenging circumstances.
EFT teaches that rather than suppressing or avoiding difficult feelings, we can learn to identify and work through them safely. EFT teaches practical coping strategies for soothing negative feelings both as an individual and within a couple’s counselling context or any other type of relationship. EFT encourages people to ‘get to the root’ of their negative emotion and be open and honest about what they are feeling and why.

EFT helps you:
-
Identify core emotions beneath anger, anxiety, or withdrawal
-
Heal emotional wounds from past relationships
-
Develop healthier emotional responses
-
Strengthen attachment bonds in marriage and family
-
Reduce shame and self-criticism

Biblically Integrated EFT acknowledges that human beings are emotional creatures and our emotions matter and must be considered seriously. Our emotions can also be a force for positive good. Scripture affirms the importance of emotional life while guiding its proper expression.
For Christians, this approach resonates with passages such as:
-
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted.” — Psalm 34:18
-
“Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” — Romans 12:15
-
“Be kind and compassionate to one another.” — Ephesians 4:32
Biblically integrated EFT helps you bring emotions into the light—before God and within safe relationships—and to help people achieve improved emotional maturity rooted in truth and love.
