Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT)

Solution-Focused Therapy is a forward-looking, strengths-based

approach that emphasizes making practical, immediate changes,

through goal setting, organization, task lists, and accountability.

Rather than analyzing problems extensively, this method focuses on

identifying what is already working and building upon it.

SFT avoids the pitfalls of over-psychologizing or over-spiritualizing problems but rather trusts the individual to be an expert on themselves

and to know what it is they need to achieve for personal improvement.

Biblically integrated solution-focused therapy aligns with Scripture’s emphasis on hope, perseverance, and wise action:

  • “Forget what lies behind… press on toward the goal.” — Philippians 3:13–14

  • “Faith without works is dead.” — James 2:17

  • “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance.” — Proverbs 21:5

This model does not ignore suffering, but it helps clients recognize that growth often begins with small, faithful steps. It cultivates agency, responsibility, and hope anchored in both practical strategy and spiritual conviction.
